LJ Hooker has just launched its new charity, the LJ Hooker Foundation, to manage the significant funds raised by its network of 600 offices across Australia. In excess of $1 million is expected to be bestowed over the next 5 years to the LJ Hooker Foundation. The foundation launched on 20 September on LJ Hooker Foundation Day, which marks 88 years since LJ Hooker first opened for business on the sandy shores of Maroubra in Sydney & 2 major beneficiaries have been chosen, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation & Cystic Fibrosis Australia.

Grant Harrod, LJ Hooker CEO, said supporting local communities is one of the cornerstones that have seen LJ Hooker become the iconic brand it is today. “On any given weekend, LJ Hooker teams around the country are fundraising for our charity partners or local causes to make a tangible difference in the communities in which they live & work,” Mr Harrod said. “With the establishment of LJ Hooker Foundation, we can receipt & facilitate these donations ensuring that every dollar raised is accounted for and has a charitable purpose.”

Cystic fibrosis Australia has been a long time charity partner of LJ Hooker & to date LJ Hooker offices have raised in excess of $5.3 million by participating in its annual 65 Roses Fundraising Day, holding sausage sizzles & hosting community events. In the immediate term, LJ Hooker Foundation will fund the development & launch in 2017 of CF Consumer Connect, a new platform for the cystic fibrosis community members to share their feedback on care & treatment in CF Centres.

Over 50 charities were reviewed by LJ Hooker offices & the LJ Hooker Corporate team, before LJ Hooker Foundation’s second charity partner was chosen, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.

Humpty Dumpty Foundation facilitates the donation of children’s life-saving medical equipment in paediatric wards, neonatal units, intensive care & emergency departments in 275 hospitals around Australia. This number is expected to rise to more than 300 hospitals together with the LJ Hooker partnership. To mark the launch, LJ Hooker Foundation has already donated nearly $50,000 in equipment to the paediatric wards in 8 public hospitals around the country. Paul Francis, OAM, Founder & Executive Chairman of Humpty Dumpty Foundation, said their partnership with LJ Hooker Foundation will be an excellent opportunity for regional & remote  hospitals to benefit from the local generosity & fundraising efforts of LJ Hooker offices. “We are aiming to assist 300 hospitals by mid-2017, which will now be more than achievable due to partnering LJ Hooker offices with their local hospitals & in turn, potentially help hospitals who have not yet sought assistance from The Humpty Dumpty Foundation,” Mr Francis said.

Mr Harrod said the synergies between the Humpty Dumpty Foundation & LJ Hooker & benefits of the partnership for our network of offices, are immense. “Through the LJ Hooker Foundation, our offices can nominate their local public hospital & Humpty will source an item on their wish list – so money raised by the office will go directly back to their local hospital & make a difference to local children in need,” he said. “It’s a wonderful, unique charity that runs on a tight budget. We’re so pleased we are able to support & accelerate the wonderful work they do.”
